Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what we do with it.

Overview

This privacy policy applies to rinaphilips.com, operated by Rina Philips. This site exists to share information about my books, connect with readers, and manage the ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reader program for The Tidewater Secrets series. I take your privacy seriously and have written this policy in plain language rather than legal jargon.

What data we collect

We collect the following information when you voluntarily submit it through forms on this site:

ARC Reader Applications

  • Your first name and email address
  • Review platform profiles (Amazon, Goodreads URLs)
  • Social media handles (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube) -- if you choose to provide them
  • Reading preferences (preferred ebook format, reading device, favorite tropes)
  • Your application responses (review commitment, why you want to be an ARC reader)
  • Your country (determined automatically by Cloudflare from your IP address -- your IP address itself is not stored)

Newsletter Signups

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your name and email address through our email service provider.

Why we collect it

We use your data for the following purposes only:

  • To review your ARC application and match you with books you'll genuinely enjoy

  • To communicate with you about upcoming releases and ARC opportunities
  • To send newsletter emails if you've subscribed

Legal basis for processing

We process your data based on your consent. You submit your information voluntarily by filling out forms on this site. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
  • Your data is not sold, shared with, or given to any third parties.
  • Your data is accessible only to Rina Philips (the site operator).

  • ARC reader data is retained for as long as you are an active member of the ARC team.
  • You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected].

Cookies

This site does not use cookies. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies.

Cloudflare Web Analytics, which we may use for basic site metrics, is privacy-friendly by design -- it does not use cookies, does not track individuals, and does not collect personal data. It measures page views and visits in aggregate only.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to access -- You can request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to correction -- You can request that we correct any inaccurate data.
  • Right to deletion -- You can request that we delete all of your personal data.
  • Right to withdraw consent -- You can withdraw your consent for data processing at any time.

These include the right to data portability (receiving your data in a machine-readable format), the right to restrict processing, and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe your data has been mishandled. Our legal basis for processing your data is consent, which you provide when you submit a form on this site.

For readers in California (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These include the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information.
